What methods did you use to study English in 2015?
As the saying goes : English is the most
simple tool, but it is the most important ability. We all know that learning English
is important and we need to be diligent but that doesn’t mean we have to always
sitting in the classroom and learn the difficult grammar.
I think English can be divided into four
fields: speaking,listening,writing and reading. Below I will introduce the
methods I use to study English this year.
Listening:
Here are the ways I use to improve my English
listening ability.
1. Listening to English radio stations and find plenty of listening sources on
the internet such as ICRT, BBC and so on.
2. Watching the English Channel on TV such as CNN, Discovery and so on.
3. Watching the English drama such as House of card, broke girls and so on.
(With English subtitle)
4. Subscribe the English news website on Facebook such as Channel 4 news, CNN
International news and so on. (By the way, you can see a lot of information
from these two website that Taiwan news hardly report.)
5. Listening to music is another great and
fun way of improving your grasp of a language.
Reading:
Here are the ways I use to improve my
English reading ability.
1.Reading English novel, and once you found
the word you don’t know just check in the English dictionary.(The reason I use English
dictionary is because Chinese and English work in different way, you can’t use
two different system in the same time that will make you confuse.)
2. Change the language on your social media
or smartphone. (If you turn your Facebook, Twitter and smartphone settings to
‘English’ then you can continue to learn the language while you’re
communicating with friends.)
Writing:
I have no idea about writing, I am very
lazy , I seldom write, and I think writing is the worst part of my English
ability.
Speaking:
Here are the ways I use to improve my
English speaking ability.
1.Just seize the opportunity to talk to foreigner
,there are many exchange student in ASIA university and they are all very nice
and friendly.
2.If you afraid to talk to foreigner just
go to cram school, the teachers in cram school will force you to talk to them
and that’s why you pay them money!
What worked or didn’t work for you?
I think my reading and listening are getting
better than usual but my speaking and writing are still poor. Although both of
my reading and listening get better it still not achieve my anticipation. If I
have stronger willpower I can do better. For example: I will watch the Chinese subtitle
sometime because drama is so dramatic that I can’t wait to see next.
What’s your English learning study plans for 2016?
I plan to
surround myself in English. Maybe I will join English summer campus in
2016.Watching English Teacher Jon’ channel in YouTube every day.(He teach many
dirty jokes in English.) Find a penpal in website and so on.THE MOST IMPORTANT ＩＳ ＴＯ HAVE STRONGE WILLPOWER.
